A flat in Hounslow has been boarded up and the former tenants have been banned from entering it for three months, following a series of complaints from neighbours.
According to Hounslow Council, neighbours complained about drug-dealing in the property, as well as people urinating in the lifts if they were visiting the flat’s inhabitants.
Neighbours also complained that drug-fuelled antics, including loud parties, frequently lasted until the early hours.
On April 21st, the property was raided and police arrested a man on suspicion of possessing drugs with the intent to supply.
He was not a registered tenant at the address, and was later bailed to return for police questioning.
Hounslow Council applied for a closure order, which was approved at Feltham Magistrates’ Court, and its representatives then worked with Hounslow Police to prevent access to the property.
Legal professionals at the council are also aiming to ensure secure possession of the flat, so that the tenants can be permanently evicted.
Councillor Richard Foote, Hounslow Council’s cabinet member for community protection, said: “This sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate antisocial behaviour that makes the lives of others a misery.
“We had a number of complaints about the tenants living at 67 Fenton House from several of their neighbours.
“We are now looking to permanently remove their right to a tenancy at this address.”
