IPO seeks views on improving collaboration in intellectual property

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has opened a new consultation into the future of intellectual property (IP) in the UK, which is seeking views on new ways that Britain’s innovators can work together to get the most out of their IP.

The consultation, which was opened last week ahead of the Government’s soon-to-be-unveiled new industrial strategy, will run until 15 November 2017.

Any businesses and organisations currently working in a sector or industry driven by IP, such as the film, music and design industries, are being urged to provide feedback in relation to how collaboration can be increased and improved.

The Government claims it is ‘committed’ to finding ways of improving and stimulating IP collaboration as part of its wider industrial strategy going forward.

In a recent statement, a spokesperson said: “As the Government sets out its plans for an ambitious new industrial strategy, the IPO is seeking views to form part of our contribution to the next phase of the strategy.

“We are looking for your views on a range of specific ways we can get innovators to work together more effectively and get the most out of their IP.”
