The European Court of Justice has overturned a decision by the German courts and ruled in a case involving a German widow that holiday benefits are still valid after death.
Clean Slate At 18
A cross-party group of MPs and members of the House of Lords has suggested that children who have committed minor crimes as youngsters but have stopped breaking the law should have their record cleared when they turn 18.
Disclosures Could Be Limited
A ruling in the Supreme Court this week means that not all police cautions and minor convictions should be disclosed in criminal record checks, as any requirement to do so would be incompatible with human rights legislation in England and Wales.
New PASS Cards Launched
Last week saw the launch of new proof of age cards under the Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS), founded in 2001, which aims to cut down on the number of young people buying and therefore consuming tobacco and alcohol when under age.
Law Criminalises Forced Marriage
Campaigners are celebrating a law that comes into effect today (June 16) which punishes forcing someone into marriage in England and Wales with a maximum jail sentence of seven years.
