New rules forcing officers to give notice of trading standards inspections could have “unintended consequences” for fraudsters, according to the Trading Standards Institute (TSI).
Changes In Employment Terms
On 1 September, a new kind of employment contract will be introduced; the employee-shareholder contract will mean that firms can give employees shares in the company worth between £2,000 and £50,000 in exchange for them giving up certain statutory UK employment rights.
Union Wins Injunction
The National Farmers’ Union (NFU) has been granted an injunction to restrict activists protesting against the badger cull from coming any nearer than 100m of the homes or 25m of the businesses of anyone involved in the cull. However, lawful protest against it will still be allowed.
Jurors Getting Older
The Government has announced that the upper age limit for jurors in England and Wales is to be raised to 75, from the current limit of 70, in a bid to reflect modern life and make the system more inclusive.
